Today MDS celebrates its 40th anniversary - a history of expansion and success, locally and abroad, built on innovation, diversification and the constant search for the best solutions for Clients and Partners.
Created in Porto to manage the insurance and risk policy of the Group founded by Belmiro de Azevedo, and led by José Manuel Fonseca since the beginning of the century, MDS quickly gained a new ambition and embarked on a journey to became a multinational, market leader in Portugal since 2005, market leader in Angola and in the Top 3 brokers in Brazil, where it entered in 2002.
With a direct presence in the UK, Mozambique, Malta, Spain, Switzerland, Chile, Cyprus, Mexico and the USA, the Group now has a turnover of around 145 million euros and 1,250 people in 45 offices on three continents, making it the most international company in the Portuguese financial sector.
Also in Porto, in 2004, MDS founded Brokerslink, a global brokerage and risk management network present in 133 countries, managing around 65 billion euros in premium.
MDS, already recognised for its investment in technology, innovation and specialization, integrated, in late 2022, the Ardonagh Group, ranked 15 in the sector worldwide and with a turnover of approximately 1.5 billion euros. This operation will allow MDS to gain access to even more resources, enhancing the benefits for the Group's stakeholders.
